According to MLB Pipeline, Beeks, 24, is the Sox No.15 ranked prospect in their system. He was a 12th round draft choice in 2014 and has put up solid numbers throughout the organization.
In 2017, between Double-A and Triple-A, Beeks compiled a 3.29 ERA in 145 IP with 155 strikeouts and 1.21 WHIP. He improved on those numbers this season with Pawtucket, the lefty compiled a 2.56 ERA with an 80/14 K/BB ratio in 56 1/3 innings across 10 starts.
Drew Pomeranz was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to biceps tendinitis, so Beeks is likely making a spot start. The odds of him returning to Triple-A after the start are high.
Advice: One-time stream option if needed.
