Red Sox manager Alex Cora said pitching prospect Jalen Beeks will be called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to make his major league debut on Thursday at home against the Tigers. Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reported…

According to MLB Pipeline, Beeks, 24, is the Sox No.15 ranked prospect in their system. He was a 12th round draft choice in 2014 and has put up solid numbers throughout the organization.

In 2017, between Double-A and Triple-A, Beeks compiled a 3.29 ERA  in 145 IP with 155 strikeouts and 1.21 WHIP. He improved on those numbers this season with Pawtucket, the lefty compiled a 2.56 ERA with an 80/14 K/BB ratio in 56 1/3 innings across 10 starts.

Fantasy Outlook

Drew Pomeranz was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to biceps tendinitis, so Beeks is likely making a spot start. The odds of him returning to Triple-A after the start are high.

Advice: One-time stream option if needed.
