The Panthers running back corps have been decimated by injuries to start the 2014 season. However, they will get a big piece back on Sunday–Jonathan Stewart will be suiting up for the first time since September 21st. Stewart has rushed for a measly 88 yards on 27 carries, while the Carolina rushing attack has been one of the worst in the NFL.
I do expect Stewart to be a large part of the Panthers game plan, if healthy and starting. The Panthers have shown the world in order for them to be successful, they have to effectively run the ball, as that will set up Cam Newton and the passing game. The Panthers as a team are only averaging 3.3 yards per rush, a statistic that shows their flaws. If Stewart can return to his once healthy form, he should be a decent RB2 in deeper leagues. Don’t go crazy with your expectations for the always injured running back, it could be a week or two until he is back on the sidelines.
