Josh Hamilton is Back with Fresh Start in Texas
After a couple miserable years in Los Angeles, Josh Hamilton is back in Texas. The Rangers’ organization is where he had his greatest years of success and continues to have the best support system in place. It was with their team that he became a superstar. The Rangers clearly have a great understanding of what Hamilton needs to stay “clean.” Drug addiction is a tremendous burden to bear, for any person. That’s why it’s so imperative for Hamilton to have the right people behind him.
It seems there’s no place that fits better than the Rangers for Hamilton. His Texas teammates and organizational executives understand better than anyone or anywhere else what it takes to support a person in such a serious situation. The balance of his career hangs on a precipice. A slippery slope that could lead to the depths of despair or the flourishing of a rejuvenated career.
In his five games back, Hamilton already has three extra base hits. He had his first multi-home run game in years, and seems to be close to his old form already. Talent has never been the question when it comes to his career. Physically, Hamilton equates to virtually a modern day Mickey Mantle. With all the tools in the world it’s exciting to consider what the future may hold for him. With the right systems in place he could be in for a couple great years like he had during his MVP years of 2010-2012. As long as he can stay on the straight-and-narrow, Hamilton will surely produce. There’s no place like home.
