Kent State vs Oregon State Preview and Prediction
Kent State vs Oregon State Preview
Oregon State (7-3) looks to stay perfect at Gill Coliseum when it hosts the Kent State Golden Flashes (8-2) at noon PT on Friday.
Friday’s college basketball slate tips-off at 11 A.M. ET and has great matchups all day throughout the night. This MAC vs Pac-12 game will showcase two of the games most unknown stars. KSU’s Jaylin Walker and OSU’s Tres Tinkle. Remember those names because they will be called all the time on the broadcast.
Oregon State leads the series 2-1.
The Golden Flashes pulled out a 79-78 win last season on Dec. 21 at the M.A.C. Center in Kent, Ohio with Jaylin Walker dropping 25 points to lead Kent State.
Why Oregon State will win
Tres Tinkle continues his terrific play and the Beavers shoot over 50 percent from the field.
Both are probable as well–Tinkle is averaging 19.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while the OSU team as a whole is dropping 84.5 points per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. Any time you are making more than half of your shots, success typically follows.
Why Kent State will win
Senior Jaylin Walker continues his torrid scoring pace. In five games this season, Walker is averaging 25.2 points per game while shooting 55 percent from three-point range. And it’s not like he is being careful with his three-point shots–he is taking 9+ per game.
The Flashes bench has been contributing to Kent State’s offensive scoring. Last game against Louisville, the Flashes’ bench scored 40 points. On the season, Kent State has 281 total bench points and averages 43.9 points per game with 34.6 percent of its point coming from the bench.
