Khalil Mack could be the Greatest UB Bull Ever

At 6’3” and 250lbs, Khalil Mack is a physical force to be reckoned with. One year after his four great seasons with the UB Bulls, it seems his football career is just getting started. In 2014, Mack became the highest NFL draft pick ever to come out of the University of Buffalo, being selected fifth overall by the Oakland Raiders wasn’t exactly a surprise, given Mack’s premier talent, but it was still a shocking moment. After Khalil Mack’s name was called, all of Buffalo was filled with pride. One of our own had received one of the greatest honors possible in football, an opportunity that only supreme talent, dedication and performance can earn.

During his college career, Mack set a new NCAA record for forced fumbles (16) and tied the all-time record in career tackles for a loss (75). He won the CFPA linebacker trophy, was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year and selected second team All-American by the associated press in 2013. In the University of Buffalo’s independent student newspaper, The Spectrum, Mack was ranked as the greatest football player in entirety of the school’s Division I history.

After his selection into the NFL, Khalil Mack acclimated nicely onto the Oakland Raider’s team. Throughout his first season he racked up 75 tackles, four sacks and three passes defended. Following this breakout performance, Mack became a candidate for the AP defensive player of the year award, eventually finishing an impressive third in the voting. However, Mack was named Defensive Player of the Year by analysts on ESPN’s NFL Live. To top it off, Mack was most recently voted the 49th best player of 2015 by his peers in the National Football League. A solid start to what is sure to become a tremendous professional career.

Landin “Shredder” Murphy has been athletic since early age, quickly developing a propensity for both baseball and swimming. One of Landin’s fondest memories was his youth baseball team narrowly missing out on the opportunity to play in the Little League World Series Final. Unfortunately, during high school Landin was forced to forget his originally preferred sports as a freak basketball injury nearly ended his life. All prospects for Division I sports scholarships evaporated. Despite this set back, Landin focused his energies in new modes, becoming an All-State musician, avid sports journalist and by"Bodybuilding" to stimulate and heal his body. In an effort to assist others, Landin is currently pursuing Pre-Medical, Dosimetry and Sports Medicine degrees.
