Killing fields

Tonight’s episode of Killing Fields opens with detective Roadie Sanchez blaming himself for the murder of his informant George Barrett. Detective Sanchez’s health is, as he puts it, starting to decline. He undergoes scans to check his kidney function and to see if his kidney cancer has returned. His wife Leda stands by him clearly worried about her husband’s health.

The detectives begin to look for patterns in Curtis “Cochise”Smith murder and George Barrett murder. So far the two connections were both worked for Tommy Francise and both were killed with a .22 caliber weapon.

Maj. Ronnie Herbert wants to bring in one of many of Francise ex-girlfriend’s Melina. Melina was his alibi the night Barrett was murdered. She’s uncooperative and hangs up on Herbert. She’s not so lucky when detective Sanchez calls her and tells her she will be interviewed.
While they are setting up her interview Sanchez says Francise and Barrett had a physical altercation in police parking lot 3 days before Barrett’s murder.

Maj. Herbert questions Melina who will only state Francise was with her the night Barrett was killed. Upon Sanchez’s advice Herbert comes back in carrying a blank warrant. A tactic used to scare Melina she finally admits she knew Tommy did something bad the night he called her from the Lions Club breathless needing a ride. She says Tommy unscrewed Barrett’s bedroom light bulb and stood in the shadows he then shot him twice in the head.

Police ask crime-stoppers to interview the families and air the interviews on TV in hopes people will come forth. Another of Francise girlfriends, this one is named Arlene, comes forth corroborating Melina’s story. Arlene was the ex Tommy trusted the most but states although Barrett didn’t commit the murder on Smith he did help move the body. Smith was killed in Tommy’s kitchen.

Meanwhile Detectives Morgan, Angelo and Herbert meet with a voice analysis expert to analysis an interview Francise gave detectives in 2002. The expert begins to brief detectives in the process of telling truth from lies when a person lies the peak on the analysis machine look something like an A-frame with a flat peaked when its the truth the top is the shape of a traditional a frame with lines underneath. The analysis concluded Francise killed Smith but did not dump the body in Bayou Pigeon. Special prosecutor Tony Clayton issued an arrest warrant for Francise. After the police reenact how Barrett was murdered in his home. The home has been vacant since his murder.

The DNA analysis is back on the hair fibers found on Eugenie Boisfontaine. Unfortunately they were her own. Next week Detectives arrest Francise.
