Killing Fields: Episode 7 Recap

Killing fields episode 7

Tonight’s episode opened with detective Rodie Sanchez at his home contemplating how much it would mean to him to get an arrest warrant for Tommy Francise. Later that day the detectives have an important meeting with Sheriff Brett Stassi and Special Prosecutor Tony Clayton.

Detectives present the evidence against Tommy Francise for two homicides they believe he committed. The murders of Curtis”Cochise”Smith and police informant George Barrett. Clayton agrees there is enough to charge Francise with two counts of second degree murder. This charge carries a life prison sentence.

The judge signs off on the warrant and detectives meet to establish a plan on where to arrest Francise. They decide to get him while he’s on the interstate. A surveillance of Francise property shows no one is home and his semi is missing.

They call up the telephone company to ask for the phone records a representative agrees to “ping” Francise phone. A ping is a signal that is given at certain time intervals when your phone signal is bounced off a cell tower in the vicinity your travelling or sitting still. It only tells your location.

Tommy is in San Antonio, Texas on a haul. He’s stopped at a truck-stop to rest. After fourteen hours of no movement and a call to Tommy’s cell is unfruitful. Detectives reach out to Texas police to do a drive by. The truck isn’t there and detectives fear Tommy has ditched the phone due to a tip-off from someone.

Shortly afterward the phones ping gives a notification Tommy is 2 1/2 hours away. The detectives suit up and put their plan in action. When they are half way to the site they pull over for a quick conference.

After Tommy is just 45 minutes away from his home he stops off at yet another truck stop after 30 minutes and no movement, detective Aubry is dispatched to Crowley to surveillance Francise. Francise truck is parked at an odd angle and police worry he caught a ride and evaded them. Local police are called and both Iberrville police and the Crowley swat team surround the truck stop. A very surprised and unwilling Francise.

Next week will be the season finale and Francise bond hearing.
