As a team, the Spurs went 43-96 from the field (44.8%), while knocking down 7 of their attempted 27 shots from behind the arc (25.9%), compared to the Lakers who connected on 42 of their 88 shots (47.7%) and 14 of their 39 3PT attempts (35.9%). And although the Lakers made more free throws, they attempted more going 23-33, while the Spurs were perfect from the charity stripe 20-20.
The Spurs were led by DeMar DeRozan who went for 32 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST on 12-27 shooting, and Rudy Gay 31 PTS, 7 REB, 2 AST on a more efficient 12-21 from the field, as well as knocking down 2 of his 5 attempts from deep. LaMarcus Aldridge also poured in 21 PTS, knocking 7 of his 14 shots, and grabbing 9 boards in the team’s loss.
The Lakers were led by James, who had another all-around stellar game as he scored a game high 42 PTS, on 15-24 shooting, while knocking down 3 of his 7 shots from deep, grabbed 5 boards, while dishing 6 AST. With the injury to Brandon Ingram who suffered an ankle sprain in the first half of Wednesday nights matchup, after scoring a quick 5 PTS, in 5 MIN the Lakers needed their other go-to options to step up and Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball did just that during the matchup. Kyle Kuzma poured in 22 PTS of his own on 7-19 shooting, and 3-9 from three. Kuzma grabbed a team high 9 boards, and recorded 5 AST. While Lonzo Ball went for 14 PTS, connecting on 5-12 of his shots and 3-6 from deep. Ball also dished a game high 9 AST, while pulling down 4 boards.
