The Los Angeles Lakers have traded a future second round draft pick to acquire Indiana Pacer’s center Roy Hibbert. After the DeAndre Jordan fiasco some the LA front office was concerned that the Mavericks might aim for a sign-and-trade of Monta Ellis for Roy Hibbert, those fears are put aside as the trade is now officially completed.

The Lakers have procured a legit NBA center for essentially nothing. The 7’2”, 275-pounder found himself the odd man out on a team that was looking to increase their tempo, luckily for the Lakers Hibbert’s speed won’t be a problem. LA has found a true rim protector, in the former 2014 NBA All-Star. With averages of 11.1 pointers, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game Hibbert’s numbers won’t astound anyone, but his complete lock down of the paint will greatly improve the Lakers paper-thin defense from last season. Look for Hibbert to make the most of his Los Angeles exposure during his contract year, and if he doesn’t pan out for LA his contract is over at the end of the season or can be a valuable trade chip. Smart pick up by Los Angeles.
