LeBron

As if Game 1 wasn’t a statement itself, Lebron is a man on a mission. He doesn’t care who’s standing in his way this is going to be one hell of a freight train for anybody in the East to stop. I was hoping Demar Derozan would come back to his old self and help light a spark here, but he put up another dud, hopefully with this series going back to Toronto for the next two we can see this team chemistry flow a lot better.

In 31 minutes, Derozan appeared to be the guy with the bad back. He shot 2-for-11 from the floor totaling five points which isn’t going to get you anywhere. Kyle Lowry had 20 points, and did a nice job defensively early on, but couldn’t do it all by himself. Serge Ibaka remained a monster down low with 16 points, Cory Joseph is a guy with a ring who has been in situations like this and knows what it takes to win on the road–he had 22 points, and Jonas Valanciunas bounced back after a weak Game 1 performance with 23 points, but defensively they couldn’t get the key stops they needed early on as they trailed by as 20 through the game.

For Cleveland they have to remain focused. Last year in the Eastern Conference Finals we thought it would be over early as well, but the Raptors came to life at home pushing the series all the way to seven games. LeBron had a dominant night on the floor with 39 points 10-for-14 FG’s and 4-for-6 three-pointers, he also made 15-of-21 from the free throw line. Kevin Love didn’t score in double figures, but the Cavs had help elsewhere with Iman Shumpert scoring 14 and Channing Frye had a big game with 18. Kyrie Irving of course with another stellar performance with 22 points and 11 assists.

Game 3 is a must win for Toronto at home. I expect them to win at least one game, but this series is a different feel from last season. I’m giving the Raptors the edge in Game 3, but still have the Cavs closing this out in 5.
