‘Lucifer’ Gets Picked Up By Netflix For Its Fourth Season
After Fox announced in late March that they were cancelling the previously poorly rated (at least according to the official Nielsen ratings which the majority of network TV shows rely on) yet internationally loved series, Lucifer, The Hollywood Reporter was the first to announce that Netflix would pick up the series where Fox left off, ordering 10 episodes for its newly renewed fourth season.
Despite the show’s cancellation, fans, dubbed “Lucifans” (myself included), were disappointed in Fox’s decision but were still hopeful as they all dedicated to come together to save their beloved show using the hashtags, #SaveLucifer, #PickUpLucifer, and #Lucifer. Fans from all over the world came together to continuously tweet and trend those hashtags with the support and encouragement from the executive producers, Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, the show’s cast, and even other celebrities chimed in to show their support, most notedly, sci-fi icon William Shatner.
A few days ago, multiple news outlets reported that Amazon showed interest in renewing Lucifer but it looks like Netflix won in the end as they the announcement came yesterday that Lucifer was officially picked up after weeks of speculation.
So as a proud and fellow Lucifan, thank you to everyone who contributed to this movement: the cast, the crew, EPs, other celebrities, other news outlets (especially TVLine and SpoilerTV), and most of all, all the other Lucifans around the world for all their relentless support. We did it!
