Lucifer Recap and Review: “My Brother’s Keeper”
Lucifer Recap and Review
In this week’s episode of Lucifer, Ella enlists the help of Maze, Lucifer and Chloe go ring shopping, Charlotte goes in for a therapy session with Linda, and Pierce and Amenadiel finally meet.
This case of the week involves Ella’s brother, Jay, who is accused of murdering a diamond salesman. Jay apparently ran off after this guy got killed so he obviously became the lead suspect. But before they discovered the dead body, Ella enlists the help of Maze to help look for him as a bounty hunter.
While looking into the case, Chloe finds a stolen diamond which leads her and Lucifer to investigate a diamond store where, unbeknownst to Lucifer, they pose as an engaged couple looking for a ring. Turns out it was an insurance scam gone wrong involving the store owner. The killer turned out to be the insurance adjuster who got cut out of their deal by the victim. But even though Jay wasn’t the killer, he apparently isn’t completely innocent; he saw the killer while he was in the stash room cleaning the serial codes off of the diamonds AND he stole whatever diamonds were left for himself.
With Maze and Ella’s partnership, Maze only agrees to help her because Ella offers to pay her as bounty hunter. But by the end of it all, Maze saves Ella in the end by throwing one of her knives at the killer while he’s pointing a gun at her. During their investigation though, Ella talks about her family and Maze says a little about her own: having thousands of siblings and her family not being close. I personally want to learn more about Maze’s family and her past, but whether or not we’ll get to see that is up to the writers.
With the Pierce situation, Lucifer tries to convince Amenadiel to help him kill Pierce but it turns out Amenadiel was the one who marked him; in other words, Amenadiel was his father’s messenger once again. But being that he was just the messenger, he has no idea how to get rid of the curse either. Then a long but badass fight ensues between the two where Pierce reminds Amenadiel that they’re not as different as he thinks. He reminds him that he tried to have Lucifer killed (back in season 1 with that guy Malcolm), only Pierce actually did kill his brother and did the deed himself whereas Amenadiel tried to get someone else to do it.
In other news, Charlotte, per suggestion from Lucifer, goes in to see Dr. Linda Martin to try to face her demons but Linda just can’t get past the fact that she tried to kill her while Mum inhabited her body. But later in the episode, Lucifer reminds her that Charlotte is just an innocent and Linda eventually apologizes to her and discovers that perhaps their therapy sessions can help the both of them get over their trauma.
It’ll be interesting to see how these sessions go to learn more about both Charlotte and Linda. We still don’t know much about either of the characters’ back stories so far and hopefully we’ll get to find out via their therapy sessions. I’m also wondering if Charlotte is going to become another celestial being insider like Linda given that she literally went to Hell. For now, she still thinks she’s crazy but she wouldn’t if she really believed in all things celestial. The only problem is that Lucifer no longer has his devil face so either Charlotte is just going to think Linda is as crazy as she is or she’ll believe it simply just because it makes sense with everything that’s happened during her missing time. How much we’re going to be able to see of those sessions is still unclear but I’m hoping that the two will, at the very least, become friends because she’s the only woman on the show who isn’t in the tribe and the tribe could always use another member.
