Lucifer

Season Two of Lucifer is set to air in September, the 19th to be exact. We were left on somewhat of a cliff hanger at the end of Season 1 with God asking Lucifer for help capturing an escapee from hell. A frightened looking Lucy is seen talking to his brother and letting him know it’s their mother. Now, I’m sure fans of the show are as enthralled by this “mother” as I am.

Who could she be? Why does he look so worried? I mean come on, the guy knocks back God on a daily basis and even scares the pants off of a few human wrong doers. So, why has she gotten our dear fallen angel in such a panic?

Let us take a quick detour back to before Season 1 though, where we are first introduced to this charming, funny and quirky character. Many people will know that the character of Lucifer appeared in a comic book called The Sandman which was created by Sam Keith, Neil Gaiman and Mike Dringenberg. He subsequently got his own comic book aptly named Lucifer in which he was the Protagonist then the lucky devil even got his own TV show, see what I did there? Lucky devil… never mind.

Yet, in the TV show we are introduced to the Tom Ellis portrayal, of a suave, sophisticated, sarcastic Satan with just a hint of British etiquette. He has left his throne in the deepest pits of hell due to boredom and has headed off to the exciting life of LA, he doesn’t disguise his origins and wears the name Lucifer Morningstar with pride, with the help of demon friend Mazikeen he opens a piano bar but in true Lucifer style he gets a bit sick of pouring flaming cocktails and soon sets into using his demonic/angelic powers to uncover humans most inner desires. One particular young lady gets the devilishly good looking strangers attention and he manages to make her a star, yet her murder that happens in front of the Lord of Darkness himself prompts him to help assist the LAPD in tracking down her killer and “punishing” those responsible. However, he doesn’t just stop at one case, his warped sense of needing to punish and finding new more exciting thrills carries him into a world of Police work and irritating their Detectives.

If you think Lucifer has it easy we can’t forget the added threat of being immortal… I know what you’re thinking, if he’s immortal then that isn’t even a threat, but it is when a certain young detective makes him vulnerable to harm and he has no idea how she does it or what about  that pesky Father of his who wants him back to hell and will stop at nothing to get him back and even resorts to sending one of his angelic brothers down from Heaven to get him back there.

Season two sets it sights on Lucifer and his brother Amenadiel who like I previously mentioned have just received a message from their father suggesting they work together in order to bring back a soul which has escaped the pits of hell. Personally, I want to know who Mother could be and why she is needed to be restrained down in hell, surely, a mother’s place is with her children, right?

It has been said that Tricia Helfer will play Charlotte (mother)… According to the Show runner, the devil doesn’t fall far from his mother, and with the two alike free on one playing field we are expected to see some showdown, what Lucifer finds fascinating in humans repels mother.  She is strong-willed and knows what she wants and how she can get it, she’s out of hell on the guise that she wants to spend time with her two sons but is that all a ruse and is she there to cause a little trouble for our angelic and devilish pair?

Can Lucifer overcome his daddy issues and help with the recapture of Mama D or is all hell about to be unleashed, literally?
