The Los Angeles Lakers have reached an agreement with Luke Walton to become their new head coach.

The team released a statement- “We’re excited to bring Luke back to Los Angeles, where we feel he’s going to start an outstanding coaching career,” said Kupchak. “He’s one of the brightest young coaching minds in the game and we feel fortunate that he’ll be leading the on-court future of our team.”

He will begin his duties following the end of the Warriors’ season.

Some people don’t think Walton is ready to be a head coach, and see his historic 24-0 start with the Warriors as a fluke. However, he’s a combination disciple of  Phil Jackson and Steve Kerr. He’s young, only 36 years-old, and has a good relationship with players and follows a modern NBA system. These are all great things for the young Lakers’ core.

Luke Walton is back in LA and Lakers fans should be optimistic for the future.
