Going into this season, there was a lot of hype surrounding this young running back in Denver. Montee Ball, the expected franchise back that was drafted two years ago, was gone. Ronnie Hillman had been inconsistent, and was being thought of as the back-up at best. No it was C.J. Anderson that fantasy footballers were taking as high as the first round, and no one could blame them based on all the talk. Unfortunately for fantasy owners Anderson has been inconsistent to say the least, but that might be about to change. After a strong game in the elements last night that included a 48 yard burst outside to beat the no longer undefeated Patriots in overtime, Anderson’s stock is about to rise.

He had 113 yards and the game winning TD on only 15 carries. Now almost half of his yards came on that last run, but considering that Denver was down 21-7 through much of the game it’s a wonder they ran as much as they did. Brock Osweiler had a decent game in his second start since taking over for Peyton Manning. Without Anderson balancing things out for the offense on a night where Demaryius Thomas didn’t catch a pass until right before the two-minute warning, they would not have won this game. There were a few other players yesterday that had great performances, but that is why this one stands out for me. The Broncos are going to need a strong effort from Anderson the rest of the way to give Osweiler time to adjust as the starter, and to make that playoff run. Considering he ran for almost half the yardage he has had all year, it seems he has nowhere to go but up. Congratulations to C.J. Anderson, this week’s Man Crush Monday.
