In a weekend that was somewhat overshadowed by the NFL Draft there was still playoff basketball to be watched, and even more so a couple of elimination games. The Pacers and Raptors series went the full 7 games and both teams played their hearts out. One shooting guard in particular continued a great season by leading his team to victory; he is this week’s Man Crush Monday, DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan scored 30 points and had 3 steals and 2 blocks on the defensive end to help take game 7 of the first round match up 89-84 over the Indiana Pacers. DeRozan had struggled with his shooting all series, and shot 10 for 32 in the game. He played 40 minutes in this game and is averaging 36.1 minutes a game in the postseason. This was the first time the Toronto Raptors had won a game 7 in their franchise’s history, and the first playoff series win in 15 years. Back then it was Vince Carter’s team and then much like now for the Raptors there was pressure to win a playoff series.

Toronto will play the Miami Heat in the second round, a team who also won a game 7 over the weekend. It will be a good match up and a true test to see if DeRozan and company can make history for the Raptors and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time ever. DeRozan is a free agent this summer and there has been some speculation if he will stay in the great white north or go home to Los Angeles and play for the Lakers. For now I think it is safe to say that he is focused on Miami and beating the Heat Tuesday night at home in Toronto.
