There may have been only one victor in the Saints vs Giants game yesterday, but there were two quarterbacks, and they both played so well I could not overlook either one. Sharing this week’s Man Crush Monday are Drew Brees and Eli Manning. In a high scoring NCAA like match up, these two players and their respective offensive weapons went head to head for four quarters of entertaining football. Back and forth they went, until a field goal decided the game for New Orleans. Drew Brees did what he does best, spreading the ball around and throwing touchdowns to five different players. He threw for 511 yards and had a total of seven TDs, tying the record set by Peyton Manning in week one of the 2013 season. His counterpart Eli Manning threw for 350 yards and six touchdowns, including three to Odell Beckham Jr. who is having quite a year himself.

One could take the glass half empty approach and say that this was two of the worst defensive efforts we have seen in the NFL in a while. In my opinion that just takes the fun out of football and in particular those who watched this game. A game with this much offense is the only reason people go to Arena football games that you can be sure of. We could write a whole other article on the fantasy implications alone. I got crushed by a guy who had Drew Brees, who put up 90 points….yes, 90. I had Aaron Rodgers who of course had one of the worst games of his career last night. Ok back to real football. I have never been a huge fan of Eli, yes I know he has two rings but he also threw 27 interceptions in a season a couple of years ago. I have to give him credit for that performance yesterday though, he was on point. I said before the season that as a Dallas fan I was actually more worried about the Giants than I was about the Eagles, even though their records aren’t much different I still feel that way. Drew Brees on the other hand reminded me once again that every time I think he isn’t THAT much better than Romo, I should just stop talking. The two combined for 13 touchdowns, 861 yards, and just one INT. Good job gentlemen.
