Man Crush Monday: Larry Fitzgerald
In a weekend of divisional round match ups, the most suspenseful game of the weekend without a doubt was the Cardinals and Packers Saturday night. Meeting three weeks after a regular season game in which the Cardinals won decisively, these two teams gave fans a closer match up than expected that went into overtime. After another Hail Mary touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers and a weird coin flip malfunction, the Cardinals started on offense and let the face of their franchise do what he does best. This week’s Man Crush Monday is Larry Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald had a total of 8 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown. Almost half of that was basically in overtime, with Fitz catching a 75-yard reception and then the game winning score on a shovel scoop pass from Carson Palmer on the 5-yard line. Of course per overtime rules the touchdown ended the game. Naturally the crowd at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ erupted. Fitzgerald’s leadership has been invaluable to the team and the fact that he is having one of his best seasons in years only made that game more special for Cardinals fans.
Any football fan that has watched the Cardinals this year can probably notice that there is a certain fire in Larry Fitzgerald this season. He is so focused and seems to be on a mission to finally get that Super Bowl ring he came close to winning seven years ago. This Cardinals team is better than that one, and has shown they can win in several different ways. On a night that the Packers defense seemingly shut down the run, Palmer had to shake off the rust and connect with Fitz in order to get that first playoff victory. Now they head to Carolina for the NFC Championship next week. It should be a great game that pits one of the leagues best corner’s in Josh Norman against Fitz, with the winner heading to the Super Bowl.
