Man Crush Monday: Thomas Rawls
There were quite a few players that performed exceptionally well yesterday, so this week there was many to choose from. After much consideration, Thomas Rawls is this week’s Man Crush Monday. Filling in for the injured Marshawn Lynch, Rawls had 30 carries for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also caught 3 passes for 46 yards giving him a total of 255 yards of offense for the day. This of course helped the Seattle Seahawks to a 29-13 victory over the San Francisco Forty-Niners.
I know that there were a couple quarterbacks yesterday with five touchdown passes, and another running back that broke the 200 mark. The thing about Rawls is that he’s a back-up, a rookie back-up at that. Not every rookie running back out there is able to just come in when needed and have the performance he did. I know that the Forty-Niners are not a very good team this year, but their defense isn’t as bad as he made them look yesterday. He is averaging 6 yards per carry in the limited time he has seen in his rookie season.
With Lynch getting older and not quite being able to stay healthy this year, the future could be bright for Rawls. Seattle doesn’t appear to have a shot at the division but are still fighting for a wild card spot, and they will need Rawls if Lynch misses more time. Pete Carroll loves to run the ball, and he certainly knows how to use Rawls. Another factor that his game brought was a good day for Russell Wilson, who like most quarterbacks only benefitted from a strong ground game. Fantasy wise I noticed he is only owned in 37 percent of leagues, I am sure that will change this week.
