Championship weekend has passed, and now we football fans have to wait two weeks for the last game of the season. Yesterday’s games determined who gets to play in Super Bowl 50 and who gets to play in Hawaii this weekend to a much smaller at home viewership. The first game featured the Patriots and Broncos. It also featured a textbook example of the only way to beat the Patriots, put pressure on Tom Brady. One of the guys responsible for doing so is this week’s Man Crush Monday, Von Miller.

Miller led the number one ranked defense in an all-out assault on Tom Brady. He hit Brady four times and had two and a half sacks. He also caught one of Brady’s two interceptions on the day. He recorded the most sacks in a playoff game in Broncos franchise history and is the first player to sack and intercept Brady in the same postseason game. Brady ended the day with a passer rating of 56.4. While Miller certainly had help from DeMarcus Ware and Derek Wolfe, he clearly kept the momentum going when the Broncos offense stalled out in the second half. This game really came down to defensive stops by Denver and now because of Miller and the rest of the defense they are on their way to another Super Bowl appearance.

Miller is a free agent at the end of the year, and as much as I’d like my Cowboys to swoop in and sign him he is sure to be franchised. He’s a guy that you can’t let walk away, even though Denver has other priorities like Brock Osweiler to sign to a long-term deal. The next two weeks leading up to the big game are sure to be hyped around Peyton Manning’s potential ride off into the sunset, but keep your eye on Miller. If Denver is going to win, it’s not going to happen without a strong game from him and the rest of that potent defense.
