Welcome My Fantasy Sports Talk peeps to the very first edition of Man Up or Step Aside. Every fantasy site has their few “experts” who have weekly starts/sits love/hate etc, and here’s the MFST version. Here’s the thing– I’m not going to be as conservative unless it’s Le’Veon Bell looking to outscore KAREEM HUNT for 50 points. Take last night for example I for one benched Tyreek Hill in one league for Brandin Cooks and what did Hill do? He Maned up! While Cooks…. stepped aside. Just take a look for yourself.

man up

Yeah what a horrible decision on my end. Regardless imagine all the other guys and gals who benched Hunt or even Gillislee last night in place of James White or just settled for another option, and don’t get me started with Alex Smith. Ha I bet you talked so much crap rolling out that Brady/ Gronk combo out there did ya?… loser. So I’m here to give you a hug, pat your back and am going to simply tell you that everything we’ll be just fine, because I am going to tell you exactly who is going to Man up, and who my friends is going to Step Aside. Expect boldness, but most importantly let’s all have some fun, and seriously good luck to everybody in the fantasy season.

MAN UP

Man up

Jeremy Hill

Here we go let the tweets, and messages pour in on how this is a stupid call by me, but hang on guys, if anything we’ve learned that this is the year of rookie RB’s which I just published the other day, and if anything we should expect Mixon to just bully his way into the starting line up week one right?? WRONG!!! Yes by Week 5 Mixon might be the man, but Hill won’t screw it up in week one. He’s going to make his case for the starting RB1 and I’m also calling for 80 yards and two touchdowns, so step aside Mixon.

John Brown

Yeah yeah all you nerds can take Larry Fitz and don’t forget his Ensure while you’re at it, because John Brown is going to Man up for over 100 receiving yards and a TD. Look David Johnson is going to work his magic, yeah I’m sure Fitz will get his targets, but how much longer can this guy keep it up? Let Fitz take the double teams, start Brown in what should be a high scoring game, because behind Larry Fitz it’s a bunch of chumps besides Brown on the depth chart.

Marquise Goodwin

Goodwin went from the wasteland being Buffalo to another not so great situation, but hey you’ve got the beach, he can go hang out with Kevin Durant and watch the Golden State Warriors. I imagine the ladies are more attractive in San Francisco, and not chugging beers and jumping through tables like a maniac (It’s all over YouTube), and definitely give me Brian Hoyer over Tyrod any day. Goodwin has impressed in training camp, and the speedster is good with the deep ball, he’s the #2 on the depth chart. Take a dart throw with Goodwin if you’re stuck with a week one bye with Evans, Parker, or Landry. Goodwin is also a great DFS play.

Dez Bryant

I don’t know how bold this call is, but one thing I’m so tired of hearing is when I turn on the TV and everybody is saying “bench your Cowboys, Dak is going to struggle yet again, That a Giants defense”. Yeah, yeah, yeah shut up! Jenkins does not scare me, call him burnt toast after lining up with Dez. No Odell also is very possible, so this defense might be on the field a lot to begin with. Throw up the X my man and rack up them fantasy points.

Philip Rivers

Oh yeah… let’s get bold ladies and gents, let’s get bold. If I’ve learned anything from watching the Super Chargers it’s that Philip Rivers is a tough mutha ph**a, and no I’m not benching him in week one and you shouldn’t either. You want to get crazy, and throw your opponent off with such a move this is it. Phillip Rivers not only is the man, he’s also going to Man Up, so step aside Denver defense, get ready to get torched at home with Kennan Allen and Melvin Gordon returning.

Step Aside

Zach Ertz

Oh Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary when is this hype train going to derail? I understand Washington in general presents a tough defensive match up, but you fantasy nerds just can’t stop pounding your fist on the table for Ertz, so I’m guessing you’ll never learn. Hey look if you draft him, stash him to Week 8 where he usually goes off in the second half of the season and start someone else, because Zachary Ertz can get to steppin with his 3 catches for 44 yards.

Frank Gore

I won’t bash the fossil here because I love Frank Gore, but no Andrew Luck under center hurts everybody’s value. Gore should start packing his bags anyways because Marlon Mack, not Robert Turbin is coming for his job. The Rams defense are no longer a sleeper, and don’t you dare even consider Gore as a flex.

Leonard Fournette

I’m a big believer in Fournette and I expect him to live up to the RB1 potential, but not this week my man. Step aside Fournette and save those talents and debut for Week 2. There’s just not a lot to like here. The Jags are facing a fired up Texans defense, JJ Watt is healthy, and Fournette’s ankle injury is still lingering, yeah I’m not taking any part of that.

Eddie Lacy

Step aside Lacy, you weren’t able to Man up in Green Bay to be the promising starter they believed they had, and you’re not going to Man up in Seattle either. I get the whole “revenge” game situation, but Seattle’s line is shaky, Chris Carson, Prosise and Rawls are not going away, and the Packers defense does not fear you because all they see is a McDouble loving mama June look-alike, and that Eddie Lacy is enough for me to say Step Aside from my any of my lineups.

Trevor Siemian

Just like the Broncos defense, the Chargers have a great underrated defense themselves, and I fully expect the script to be flipped here. Expect to see a pick or two, but it won’t be Phillip Rivers, oh no he’s gonna be dropping dimes to Keenan Allen, and racking up yards. As for you Siemian not so much, so tuck your tail between your legs and start looking ahead to week 2.

I’m not done fellas and fellows, let’s get spicy. So you’re looking for a potential home run in a dart throw or DFS play how about my man…

Adrian Peterson

Now this revenge game script I’m totally buying. Sure the Vikings defense is top five, and the running back situation is similar to Seattle’s situation, but we have a better understanding of how this will play out. The 32 year-old isn’t going to revamp his career is New Orleans, but being that Eddie Lacy won’t make his old team pay, Adrian Peterson will Man up to the occasion, and give the home crowd yet another and final performance before he rides off to the sunset.l
