Marlon Mack

Strengths:

  • Good play speed
  • Agility
  • Big-play threat
  • Decent hands
  • Balance

Analysis: Marlon Mack is a slippery running back, he is able to swerve and move his body in multiple directions to elude would-be tacklers. He has slippery feet and is hard to pin down when bouncing laterally. Runs with knee bend and his pad level is low at contact. Explosive burst carries him into his getaway gear. Able to run away from tacklers. Six of his fifteen touchdowns this year went for 43-plus yards. Always plays fast. Decent hands makes him dangerous as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Weaknesses:

  • Not a powerful runner
  • East/West instead of North/South runner
  • Ball security
  • Vision

Analysis: On tape, Marlon Mack is a prototypical East/West runner, he fails to make the appropriate cuts to head downfield. Likes to dance and bounce runs outside too often.¬†Lacks a committed approach between the tackles. Feet start dancing if he doesn’t see an early point of entry. That shows a lack of vision that you look for in a running back.¬†Has a very poor fumble rate over this three years and has put the ball on the ground twelve times.

NFL Comparison: Cedric Peerman

Draft Projection: Round 4-5
