Mayans M.C. Episode 4 ‘Murcielago/Zotz’
Episode 4 of Mayans M.C. began with an intro of what storylines would be explored in the episode. From Johnny’s sister, to last week’s show.
A bat is seen flying and nesting upside down in a tree. It’s watching what at first glance appears to be hunters. You think from the banter they are going to shoot a deer. In actuality it’s an illegal Mexican immigrant packing oxycodone.
A shot rings out and the Mayans who are visiting a brothel ran by Madame Vicki hear it. Officer Rogan has been visiting the brothel as well. Another shot rings out and Rogan hears it and decides to investigate.
A third and deadly shot rings out finally killing the illegal. It takes Rogan only a few minutes to find the deceased.
The next morning Losa and some of the Mayans ride out to the crime scene. The city’s mayor informs Losa the department wants to pin the murders on his M.C. because of the drugs. Losa promises to handle the real perpetrator his way.
Meanwhile, Emily’s young son Cristobal is sick and the rebel leader Adelita sends for a nun from a Dominican parish to take care of him. The orphan cartel infiltrator manages to borrow a phone and record the trio. He sends to footage to Galindo’s men.
Emily after reading in the local paper about a festival held in the square to honor Jesus’ mother Mary decides to put a plan in motion. While going out of her mind with worry about her son she’s done research. She equates the rebels to Taliban. Both have similar ways they are able to takeover a town from the inside. She explains if Miguel and the cartel keep fighting the rebels with fear and death they will always be seen as the enemy.
She proposes the cartel make the rebels look like the evil ones. She wants to set her plan in motion during the festival. For once the cartel considers her advice and they devise a plan. All that changes though when Miguel sees the video footage the orphan cartel member has sent.
Meanwhile Losa and the Mayans ride to a ranch owned by Vicki’s neighbor Alice. The Mayan’s already know that Alice and her vigilante “border patrol” are responsible for the illegal immigrants being murdered. While there, Ezekiel’s photographic memory sees a former inmate in Alice’s entourage.
The Mayan’s decide to watch Alice and company. Later after a fight breaks out between the Mayan’s and Alice’s men including her son Dennis. The inmate later revealed to be former militia attacks Angel. The only thing stopping the attack was that he said they were being watched.
The D.E.A. pays Felipe a visit asks him to tell Ezekiel to meet him. Felipe reluctantly delivers the message.
It’s revealed at a meeting during a dinner between Johnny, his mother and “sister” that she’s not his sister at all–she’s actually his daughter. Johnny’s mother has raised her. In a disagreement in the diner parking lot the grandma drops the bombshell to the young girl. She jumps in with the nearest tractor-trailer driver and speeds off. Johnny is being watched.
The Mayan’s decide to hunt down Alice’s men at her ranch. Instead Dennis opens fire on them then runs away. Angel quickly catches up and shoots him.
Dennis is still conscious and thinks the Mayan’s killed everyone inside his mother’s ranch.
It’s revealed Cole the militia man (former inmate) was the real killer and Alice is missing. Angel kills Dennis, takes his phone and instructs Ezekiel to cut off Dennis’ finger so they can use his phone. Begrudgingly Ezekiel follows orders. The rest of the Mayan’s find the dead men in Alice’s house–they decided to bury everyone on the property. Angel lies to Losa about Dennis’ death.
Earlier the D.E.A agent Jimenez wants Ezekiel to make Emily role on her husband. Ezekiel tells him to renege the plea–he would rather do the prison sentence than involve Emily. Jimenez pays Felipe a visit. Threatens to tell Angel and Ezekiel the dark secret their father and mother has kept from them.
While burying Alice’s men the grave caves in and the Mayans find themselves in an underground tunnel.
The Galindo family attends the festival. Unbeknownst to Emily, Miguel has desecrated the church and killed the nun who went to the rebels aid. In the confusion Emily runs ahead and is horrified at what she sees.
The crowd panic and trample Emily. Miguel is seen carrying his injured wife. His plan backfired. He had tried blaming the rebels for the nun’s death.
All he succeeded was hurting his wife.
