Holy hell! So the internet almost blew up yesterday morning on Valentine’s Day. There were strong rumors swirling around the media and social media that McGregor vs Mayweather was actually going to happen. Some sites with credible sources were even confirming that the deal was made, but just like we all suspected it was all bull.

Rumors started sparking when McGregor flew into Las Vegas in the early morning, which multiple people began saying that he was there to make the deal to go toe-to-toe with the 49-0 retired Floyd Mayweather, but in reality he was there to speak with the Nevada State Athletic Commission about possible dropping, or lowering a $75,000 fine for the complete chaos he and Nate Diaz caused at a press conference for UFC 202.

Regardless of the of the outcome, this rivalry has been building since last year, and recently Dana White had even tried coming to an agreement offering Floyd $25 million as Floyd went on to call him a F******g comedian. To throw even more speculation on the fight Floyd has expressed interest in a possible super-fight with the reigning lightweight UFC champ, and former flyweight UFC champ. McGregor is even seeking a boxing license in that state of Nevada in case a potential showdown Floyd comes to terms, but he would first have to talk his way out of the $75,000 fine or pay up.

It wasn’t long before Mayweather went on to Twitter to announce to the world that the rumors weren’t true, by shooting it down reminding everybody that he’s happy where he’s currently at, and that if an announcement so huge like this were to happen, he would be the first to let everybody know. Mayweather of course went on to throw jabs as these two have by saying Mayweather has retired up to arrival of the Irishman. I’m sure by the time you read this Floyd would’ve countered back with something else, but as much as a joke this fight would seem like to some people, it is worth keeping an eye out for as you never know with these two characters.
