MFST’s Week 14 NFL Picks
A 10-5 Week 13 has my overall record for the season at 104-65, good for a 64% win percentage, still shy from my 75% goal. As the season winds down, my opportunities are growing increasingly limited to improve my record.
Falcons 23 at Panthers 20
The Falcons are in a free-fall and missing the playoffs is becoming a real possibility. A win over the undefeated Panthers would help more than in the standings. Morale being number one.
Washington 18 at Bears 25
Washington is 0-5 on the road. 0-6 is coming up.
Steelers 28 at Bengals 20
The Bengals have all but locked up the AFC North, but the Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives. I expect Big Ben and crew to pull out an impressive road victory.
49ers 14 at Browns 24
Johnny Manziel vs. Blaine Gabbert is such a tantalizing matchup. Maybe not. Give me the one who likes to party.
Colts 28 at Jaguars 31
A 40-year-old backup quarterback isn’t going to keep playing at a high level forever, and that will continue this week if Hasselback lines up under center.
Chargers 17 at Chiefs 21
The Chiefs are playing some of the best football in the league right now, and the Chargers are playing some of the worst. Enough said.
Titans 10 at Jets 20
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Titans win this game, but I have too much confidence in Todd Bowles as a coach to believe his team will suffer a let down against an inferior opponent.
Bills 16 at Eagles 23
Oh the smack talk between running back and head coach is enjoyable, but McCoy won’t be doing much talking after the game. Eagles play solid for another week as the NFC East looks like their’s to lose.
Lions 14 at Rams 28
These teams are likely playing for draft position at this point, and the Rams could be facing a departure from St. Louis. I like the home team to win in what could be one of their final home games at the Edward Jones Dome.
Saints 24 at Buccaneers 31
The Bucs beat the Saints in New Orleans, and it won’t be easy for the Saints to recover from nearly knocking off the Panthers. I expect Jameis to move the ball early and often against a sub par Saints defense.
Raiders 13 at Broncos 24
Derek Carr is better than Brock Osweiler, but the Broncos defense is better than Oakland’s. I’m going with the defense in this matchup.
Cowboys 27 at Packers 24
The Packers have not played well in over a month and nothing on the horizon suggests that will change. The Cowboys coming off an ugly win against Washington on Monday night, are looking to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Because this is the NFL, a league that promotes parody at its finest, the Cowboys will shock many by pulling off the upset.
Seahawks 34 at Ravens 16
Seattle is a better football team without Jimmy Graham. The Ravens are worse without Joe Flacco. Seahawks win.
Patriots 42 at Texans 17
The Patriots seem to be getting healthier (Edelman and Gronk back at practice) and the NFL should watch out. The losing streak ends this week.
Giants 14 at Dolphins 17
The NFC East will be rooting for the Dolphins to pull out the MNF victory and continue to crush the Giants season, and likely, Tom Coughlin’s tenure for the G-Men.
