Midwest Region: Abilene Christian vs Kentucky Prediction
Abilene Christian vs Kentucky Preview
A battle of the Wildcats, a battle of 27-6 records. No. 15 Abilene Christian (27-6) in their first ever NCAA Tournament bid have a tough road if they are going to advance to the Round of 32. In store for them, No.2 Kentucky Wildcats (27-6).
Abilene Christian has only been competing at the Division I level since 2013-14, having moved up from Division II. This was only the second season in which the program was eligible to play in the postseason.
They feature a balanced attack–Jaren Lewis (13.7), Payten Ricks (11.7), Jaylen Franklin (10.2) pace the team in scoring. ACU has been without their former leading scorer Jalone Friday, who is out for the season due to injury.
For Kentucky, it’s more of the same. It’s a very young, very talented Kentucky team with a whole lot of scoring punch and a whole lot of athleticism that comes through on both ends of the floor.
They can’t and don’t shoot from three, but they rebound absolutely everything. They have size, and they attack the boards like few teams in college basketball. They don’t force a ton of mistakes, but they’ll clean up the mess on their misses and they’ll make all of their free throws.
