Week 3 NFL Picks

Week 3 NFL Picks
(USA TODAY Sports)

Ravens at Jaguars

Dan Schalk- Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags can’t keep losing, right? I like them at home against a Ravens team that struggled to beat the Bills and Browns.

Brandon Reid- Jacksonville Jaguars. Baltimore let Cleveland jump all over them early before eventually coming back. I thought Jacksonville would be one of the most improved teams in the league along with Tennessee. I just have a hard time believing the Jags will start 0-3.

Orlando Torres- Baltimore Ravens. So much for the new renovated Jags. This will be a close game more than likely, but the Ravens find a way to pull away.

Redskins at Giants

Dan Schalk- New York Giants. The Redskins are in a free-fall and the Giants are riding high. It continues another week.

Brandon Reid- New York Giants. I know this is a division game, and Washington actually played Dallas tougher than I thought they would. Bu the Giants are at home and I don’t think they have started to click yet this year. The defensive front of the Giants is stout and the offensive is itching to break lose. This will finally be the game that Eli and crew score three or more touchdowns.

Orlando Torres- New York Giants. The Giants look like a serious threat in the NFC in general. Redskins keep it close, but start to panic in DC as they fall to 0-3.

Browns at Dolphins

Dan Schalk- Miami Dolphins. Cody Kessler is NOT a starting NFL QB, except he is this week. Good luck Browns fans.

Brandon Reid- Miami Dolphins- Both teams come in 0-2. I know McCown looked OK last week, and Corey Coleman looked like a future star. But Miami’s defense is too good to let Cleveland beat them in Miami and send them to 0-3. Not happening.

Orlando Torres- Miami Dolphins. Cleveland just can’t catch a break, and this Sunday nothing changes as they lose yet again.

Lions at Packers

Dan Schalk- Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers is going to go OFF this week. You heard it here first, 300 yards 4 TD’s.

Brandon Reid- Green Bay Packers. Green Bay will have a much easier time figuring out the Detroit Lion defense than they did the Minnesota Viking defense. Another big division game in Lambeau with a full complement of weapons for A-Rod. R-E-L-A-X

Orlando Torres- Green Bay Packers. Yes the Packers have been a bit out of sync, but they were on the road for the first two weeks and finally head home. In the words of Aaron Rodgers R-E-L-A-X. Packers win.

Vikings at Panthers

Dan Schalk- Carolina Panthers. The battle of two premier defenses. It will come down to QB play and I’ll take Newton over Bradford.

Brandon Reid- Carolina Panthers. This prediction is worthy of a pause. The Panthers D will be the stiffest that the Vikings have faced all year. The Panthers offense simply has more weapons and a better balance than the Vikings do, particularly without AP. The Panthers will pull away in this one. I am buying the touchdown spread and think it will end up being a double-digit Panthers win.

Orlando Torres- Carolina Panthers. No Stewart, no problem, Cam has no issues taking over as the lead back anyways. Minnesota has a very tough defense, but it won’t be enough to stop the Panthers.

Broncos at Bengals

Dan Schalk- Cincinnati Bengals. The Broncos may have the best defense in the NFL, but Trevor Siemien is still Trevor Siemien and I see him struggling in his first road game against a solid defense in Cincy. The Bengals win a low scoring, tight contest.

Brandon Reid- Cincinnati Bengals. This may be the game Siemian gets rocked. This may be the game Paxton Lynch makes his Broncos debut. The Cincy defense is tough, hard-hitting, and dirty. I have more concerns about the Broncos offense against the Bengals defense than I do the Bengals offense against the Broncos defense. This should be a great game.

Orlando Torres- Cincinnati Bengals. Denver continues to stay in a groove and their defense will keep them in games, but the Bengals will win this much-needed game at home.

Cardinals at Bills

Dan Schalk- Arizona Cardinals. The largest talent disparity of all matchups in Week 3. The Bills flop to 0-3 and a date with New England in Week 4.

Brandon Reid- Arizona Cardinals. Let’s see…the Bills fired their offensive coordinator after it was the defense that got shredded by the Jets. So Anthony Lynn is now calling the shots on offensive and looking to implement new schemes. The Cardinals are not the team to try new things on. This is my lock of the week. Contact Vegas now.

Orlando Torres- Arizona Cardinals. The Bills can game plan all they want they’re not stopping Palmer for throwing for 300 yards.

Raiders at Titans

Dan Schalk- Tennessee Titans. I view Oakland and Tennessee as equal teams, except the Titans defense is actually playing defense. Tennessee at home with Mariota lighting up the fantasy scoreboard.

Brandon Reid- Tennessee Titans. This is somewhat of a homer pick. I think the Raiders offense is comparable to the Lions offense and the Titans D stepped up on the road last week. This could be a statement win for the Titans that says hey, we are not your young nephew’s Titans anymore. We are the much improved Titans of uncle Jon Robinson.

Orlando Torres- Tennessee Titans. Oakland has a lot of good going for them, but yet again their defense will fail when it comes to stopping Mariota and Murray.

Rams at Buccaneers

Dan Schalk- Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I’m still on the belief that the LA Rams are a bad football team.

Brandon Reid- Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So last week I called the Los Angeles Rams lamentable. Then they beat Seattle. That says a lot more about Seattle right now than Los Angeles. Don’t be fooled, the Rams are still lamentable. They are 1-1 with three field goals through two games. I like the Bucs.

Orlando Torres- Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  LA won their home opener, but after Tampa Bay got demolished by Arizona, a poised Winston will smoke the Rams defense on Sunday.

49ers at Seahawks

Dan Schalk- Seattle Seahawks. I think this game will be a lot closer than most think. Seattle is not as great as they once were. Heck, they’ve only scored one touchdown in two games. Look for the 49ers to hang around all game.

Brandon Reid- Seattle Seahawks. Seattle can’t be this bad. No way they’re not as good as San Francisco. As Orlando Torres told us last week, the Rams always play Seattle tough. I will say this, I am predicting Seattle to somehow get the win, but if you are a betting person, jump all over the current line of San Francisco +10.

Orlando Torres- Seattle Seahawks. Just like last week’s divisional game between LA and Seattle this game will be close. Seattle bounces back though in the win column.

Steelers at Eagles

Dan Schalk- Pittsburgh Steelers. Carson Wentz is the real deal. But he has yet to face a real NFL defense. He will this week as he has his first multiple turnover game.

Brandon Reid- Pittsburgh Steelers. I love the way Carson Wentz is looking, and making Los Angeles GM Les Snead look like a moron. Wentz is the first rookie QB to lead his team to a 2-0 record while not turning the ball over once. He will not see 3-0. This is Big Ben and Antonio Brown. This is the Pittsburgh Steelers, not the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears. This is big boy football.

Orlando Torres- Pittsburgh Steelers. Philly’s defense will have absolutely no answer for Antonio Brown, and the Steelers defense welcomes Wentz into the league in a horrible way.

Jets at Chiefs

Dan Schalk- Kansas City Chiefs. I would pick the Jets if this game were in the Big Apple. But it’s not and the Chiefs don’t lose in Arrowhead.

Brandon Reid- Kansas City Chiefs. This is close to a pick’em. I said last week that it seemed like the Chiefs D was starting to get it together in the second half against San Diego. Even they lost in Houston, they held the Texans to a bunch of Nick Novak field goals. I think they can stop the Jets enough times to outscore them. Tough call.

Orlando Torres- Kansas City Chiefs. This is a tough game to predict, I can see either team winning, but with Jamal Charles back in the line up, the Chiefs win it at Arrowhead.

Chargers at Colts

Dan Schalk- Indianapolis Colts. If the Colts lose and fall to 0-3, we may see the first firings of the NFL season. I think Andrew Luck will light up the scoreboard en route to their first win of 2016.

Brandon Reid- Indianapolis Colts. I still had to think about this one, that’s how down I am on Indy this year. San Diego lost their top two weapons with torn ACL’s in back-to-back weeks to open the season. Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead are gone for the year. Phillip Rivers can’t catch a break, but caught more than his fair share of tears this year. I guess I got Indy.

Orlando Torres- Indianapolis Colts. Finally the Colts get a win here. Dorsett comes up huge in this game, and T.Y. Hilton finally gets in the game-plan.

Bears at Cowboys

Dan Schalk- Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys would prefer if Jay Cutler started this game, but even with Brian Hoyer behind center the result would be the same.

Brandon Reid- Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are a touchdown favorite. The Bears may be without Jay Cutler, which may be fine with some Bears fans. It’s probably also ok with the Dallas Cowboys. This is a game the Cowboys cannot afford to lose. I am predicting that if the Cowboys do lose this game, 8-8 is the best they will finish this year, no matter who is quarterback.

Orlando Torres- Dallas Cowboys. The Bears are on a decline, as Prescott continues to improve. Look for Dez to finally have a monster game at home.

Falcons at Saints

Dan Schalk- New Orleans Saints. Monday Night Football and New Orleans brings back so many memories (Steve Gleason’s blocked punt comes to mind). The Saints won’t lose at home to a division rival.

Brandon Reid- Atlanta Falcons. New Orleans is at home and a field goal favorite. I am picking Atlanta just to pour on my previous prediction that New Orleans would be horrible this year and one of the worst teams in football. While it doesn’t look like that they are that bad, an 0-3 start sure would make me look good. It’s seriously a coin toss.

Orlando Torres- New Orleans Saints. This is going to be a shoot out. Both offenses will put up numbers, but Brees and co finally win one in front of the home crowd.
