Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Natalia Cordova-Buckley who plays the Inhuman speedster, Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, has been upgraded to series regular for the upcoming fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After being introduced in season three during the Inhumans arc, Yo-Yo became increasingly involved with the team on missions and formed friendships, finally getting together with Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie in season four to create the ship”YoYoMack”.  She spent quite a bit of the season working with Daisy (Chloe Bennett) outside of S.H.I.E.L.D. leading her to fight alongside Robbie Reyes. Her character was also the lead in a six-part digital series called Slingshot. The mini-series streamed on ABC Go and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.

Natalia has given a great performance so far and I can’t wait to see her more when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns. Her role marks Yo-Yo as the first Latina superhero in an MCU show. Season five doesn’t have a definite date as of yet. We do know that it will move to Friday nights at 9 PM EST this winter. Hopefully, we’ll be getting more details from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. New York Comic-Con panel.

Congrats, Natalia!
