The Cavaliers look to prove that with their roster at full strength this season they can contend with the “best team” in NBA history. What do they need to do it?

5. Disciplined Defense- The Cavaliers are no slouch when it comes to playing defense. They finished the regular season ranked 4th in opponent points per game (98.3). They also ranked 11th in the league in 3-point percentage by opponents (34.7%). They are going to need that defense, especially on the perimeter if they are going to slow the shooting of the Warriors, who were the only team in the NBA that shot over 40% from behind the arc.

4. Hot Shooting- The Cavaliers started off this postseason impressing everyone with their lights-out offensive production. This shooting floundered slightly against the Raptors, and if they are to have a chance to stay with the Warriors, they will need to shoot at or above 50% as a team on a nightly basis.

3. Tristan Thompson- It is time for Thompson to really prove that the huge contract he signed was worth it. Thompson will need to be a rebounding force. On defense, his rebounds will be key to limiting second-chance, wide open shots by the Warriors. The offensive end will also be key, if he can grab three or more offensive rebounds a game and turn those back into points, that can control the fast pace play of the Warriors.

2. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love- The other parts of the Big Three that were missing last year, now they have their chance to show LeBron and the rest of the league, that they are just as important. They have both been huge contributors this postseason, regularly putting up over 20 points. The question now becomes whether they can do it on the big stage against a much better opponent than they have faced all postseason.

1. Crunch Time LeBron– LeBron has been one of the best players the World has ever seen, but has always seem to had one issue in the big show, and that is closing out in a 4th quarter. The King has had games where he is either shooting poorly and turning the ball over, or times where he has completely disappeared from offensive participation. There are numerous possibilities to what may be causing this, but one thing is for sure, LeBron needs to figure out how to lock it down this Finals. The Cavaliers are only going to be able to do so much against a rising Eastern Conference in the future, so the time to claim that title for Cleveland is NOW!
