In the first month of the 2016 season, the player of the month honor will go to two teammates. And like last year (2014-15) when the Hawks’ starting five (Teague, Korver, Carroll, Millsap and Horford) were named players of the month. The Toronto Raptors’ starting backcourt; DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry were both named this year’s Eastern Conference January players of the month this season. Both DeRozan and Lowry played large parts in carrying the Raptors to a 12-2 record in January, including ending the month on a hot streak, winning 11 straight.

DeRozan comes in ranked second in the Eastern conference in scoring, with 23.9 PPG, to go along 4.2 RPG and dishing 3.8 APG. DeRozan scored 30+ points in four games, including a season-high 35 points in a win over the Wizards.

This is the second time both DeRozan and Lowry have won the Player of the Month award.
