NBA Preview and Predictions 10/30
Raptors vs. Celtics
The Celtics have been labeled as an upcoming threat this season, tonight is their chance to prove it.
Toronto is coming off of a strong opening game performance that saw three players go over 20 points. That was a game that saw a relatively small performance by Carroll. If they can get the same production they got in the opener, they will be able to silence the critics who said last season’s success cannot be repeated.
The Celtics have been in rebuild mode for quite some time. This is the year for them to break out with their depth. Thomas put in 27 in their opener and many players contributed in double digits and grabbed rebounds to take them to victory.
My Prediction: The Celtics may have the depth, but they don’t have the athleticism that the Raptors lineup brings. This becomes their downfall.
Raptors 99- Celtics 95
Heat vs. Cavaliers
Miami goes to Cleveland to show LeBron and Co. that they are the real deal and plan to give them fits this season.
Miami did not get a chance to play the Cavaliers last year with a healthy team. This year proves different. The Heat come in healthy, and the Cavaliers are plagued with injuries. With Bosh playing as well, if not better than he did in Toronto, the Heat have to like their chances.
Cleveland dominated the Grizzlies in their game. However, the Grizzlies lack the depth and the guard play that Miami brings to the court. LeBron will need the best out of Kevin Love and himself to keep this game in their favor.
My Prediction: Miami’s depth and guard play will outshine the Cavs.
Miami 110- Cleveland 99
Warriors vs. Rockets
The league MVP vs the player’s vote MVP. This matchup is going to be exciting. Two of the best spot up shooters going head to head in Houston.
Golden State got off to a great start in their opener behind Steph Curry’s 40-point outing. They showed great ball movement and the ability to work the ball around to all of their guys to keep the defense honest.
Houston struggled to shoot the ball and get any real production outside of James Harden. They will need everybody to play together and find a way to put the ball in the hoop if they don’t want to get embarrassed at home.
My Prediction: Golden State is going to be too much for the Rockets too handle, as they struggle to shoot against the Warriors defense.
