NBA Preview and Predictions 11/3

Raptors vs. Mavericks

Toronto heads down south to Dallas to try to go 4-0. Dallas looks to improve to 3-1.

The Raptors will have their first real test against Dallas. Their three wins have come against teams with a combined two wins. The addition of Carroll has proven to make the Raptors trio a big three thus far. They have six players averaging double digits in scoring, and four of those have a Player Efficiency Rating over 20. Tonight is a big step towards proving their critics wrong.

Dallas may have missed out on DeAndre Jordan in the offseason, but they are winning none the less. Their lone loss came against Jordan’s Clippers, but a win tonight would keep their name relevant in the West. The return of Chandler Parsons earlier than expected will be helpful for them as well. They will need to continue their solid rebounding to keep the speedy Raptors from wearing them down with transition and second chance points.

My Prediction: The Mavericks will keep the game close for three quarters, but with a still recovering Parsons, and a relatively seasoned lineup, the Raptors use their athleticism once again to take a 4th quarter run on their opponent.

Grizzlies vs. Kings

Memphis comes into Sacramento looking to get to 3-2 after the Warriors demolished them by 50 last night. Sacramento looks to try to stay afloat after two losses to the Clippers through their first three games.

The Grizzlies were the most recent victim of the Golden State Assassins. They suffered one of the worst losses in recent NBA memory. They look to bounce back against a struggling Sacramento team. The big men, Gasol and Randolph could have a field day against the Kings down low. This coupled with a defensive bounce back will prove helpful for the Grizzlies.

The Kings are reeling after a 1-2 start that saw Blake Griffin dominate them for 70 points in two games. However, they were able to keep both losses within 10 points. The downfall going into tonight is that Cousins will miss this game and likely the next with an Achilles injury. That leaves an already vulnerable post defense even weaker.

My Prediction: Sacramento will struggle without their franchise man down low, and get manhandled by the Grizzlies down low.
