Pistons vs. Warriors

Detroit brings their impressive 5-1 to the Bay. Golden State looks to maintain their undefeated record.

Detroit got yet another 20-20 game out of Andre Drummond last night in a comeback win. This man has been a beast. He has three 20-20 games through six games. The rest of the NBA has done that just once so far. Reggie Jackson has also played up to his contract that many thought was way too much, as he poured in 40 points last night as well. The Pistons will need to ride the momentum of their 41 point 4th quarter if they want to be the first team to knock off the Warriors.

Golden State looked like they may drop their first game against Sacramento the other night, but they turned in an impressive last three minutes to take a nine-point victory. Curry only had 24 points, but 21 of those came in the 2nd half. Thompson turned in 18 points and Iguodala scored 14 off the bench. Expectations continue to rise for the defending champions. The question becomes, how far can they take this season? Tonight could provide a big test for them depending on how prepared they are down low.

My Prediction: Stopping Andre Drummond seems to be the key if you want to shut down the Pistons. Festus Ezeli will need to be in top defensive form if he wants to accomplish that. The Warriors big men will have to stay out of foul trouble, because small ball may hinder them late in the game. However, the depth is just too much in Golden State for the Pistons to overcome.

Magic vs. Pacers

Orlando is riding a two game win streak going into Indiana tonight. The Pacers look to bounce back from a close loss against the Cavaliers.

The Magic look to continue to move forward with their fairly impressive start. Oladipo and Fournier are playing at the top of their games. Vucevic and Harris are also averaging 15 points. Just those four are averaging almost 70 a game. The way they are combining, keeps their opponents from keying on any one individual, which is the key to having a successful team.

The Pacers started the season 0-3, but have gone 3-1 since, losing their last game to the Cavs by four. Paul George is almost back to his all-star form. He scored 32 points and had 11 rebounds. Their post play continues to be the weak spot on this team. The top five scorers so far are point guards, shooting guards and a small forward. The top rebounder is also a small forward. That could be a downfall for tonight.

My Prediction: Orlando is playing such well rounded basketball right now, and that is what will be the key for tonight. The Pacers don’t have the players down low that can stop the Magic big men. This puts a lot of pressure on Paul George, especially to keep the game in reach.

 Orlando 97- Indiana 90
