From the creators of The Walking Dead comes a new show to Cinemax Outcast.

Based on the comic by Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, Outcast tells the story of Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), a young man whose entire life has been afflicted by demon possession. With the help of a smoking, drinking, tormented Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister) who specializes in exorcism, they will search for answers when a local child begin to show signs that Kyle recognizes from his own past.

Robert Kirkman has stated: “I should be frank: I believe the TV version of a comic book should be entirely its own thing. I’ve been working in TV for a while on The Walking Dead and know that, without a doubt, you don’t want to just transcribe the comics into a script. The two Outcast projects—the comics and the series—are separate in my head. The coolest thing about it, truly, is that there’s going to be familiar elements, but like The Walking Dead, we’re going to come at things from a different angle and bring new ideas to this story.”

With the massive success of The Walking Dead on AMC, Outcast being aired on a less restrictive premium cable channel will allow the writers to push the boundaries of the supernatural horror genre.

Outcast will premiere Friday June 3rd, 2016.
