NFL Pick’em: Divisional Round Picks
The NFL Playoffs are here and that means our postseason pick’em contest kicks off as well. In case you missed our picks every week during the regular season, we crowned one winner of all winners.
After a crazy wild card weekend, Dan went undefeated in his picks, Brandon Reid was not far behind with a 3-1 week and the regular season champion has assumed his usual ‘last place’ spot with a 2-2 week.
Standings after Wild Card Weekend
Dan Schalk: 4-0
Brandon Reid: 3-1
Orlando Torres: 2-2
Divisional Round Picks
Falcons at Eagles
Dan Schalk: Atlanta Falcons. Nick Foles can’t win you a playoff game. Not much more to say here.
Brandon Reid: Atlanta Falcons. I’m still riding with the dirty birds. I do think Philly lost a key piece when Wentz went down. He is an elite signal caller. I think some teams messed up by letting the defending NFC Champs back in the payoffs.
Orlando Torres: Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta snuck into the playoffs as a dangerous 6th seed, and although they’ll continue on the road as long as they keep winning, they’ll remain a dangerous unit.
Titans at Patriots
Dan Schalk: New England Patriots. Before the season started I predicted this matchup to be the AFC Conference Championship game. Stupid Tennessee had to sneak in as a wild card instead of a division winner ruining my genius. Now, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are going to unleash their genius all over the Titans.
Brandon Reid: Tennessee Titans. I’m going to play Dan Schalk’s game and just pick something crazy. I have said all season long that the Patriots will not repeat. This season has been just crazy enough for the Titans to pull off this upset.
Orlando Torres: New England Patriots. After getting shut out in the first half the Titans gutted out a comeback for the ages in a classic battle with the Chiefs. Derrick Henry put the team on his shoulders, and I expect Henry to be yet another workhorse vs New England, but Tom Brady is still going to have his way with Tennessee.
Jaguars at Steelers
Dan Schalk: Jacksonville Jaguars. I apologize for the picker below me giving all this love to the Steelers all season long. Sorry, but they aren’t a good team outside of Le’Veon Bell. I would’ve mentioned AB, but despite reports, no way will he be 100%. The Jags defense is going to give Big Ben flashbacks to his motorcycle ride a few years ago….
Brandon Reid: Pittsburgh Steelers. Best team in the AFC. Period.
Orlando Torres: Jacksonville Jaguars. I know defensively Jacksonville will show up, offensively they scare me. Blake Bortles is capable of putting up a 300 yard, 3 TD game, but could also easily post up 87 yards, and one score. Pittsburgh also finally gets Antonio Brown back, but I’m going with a shocker here and saying the Jags win this game with their hard-nosed defense.
Saints at Vikings
Dan Schalk: New Orleans Saints. I absolutely love the Vikings defense, but something about Case Keenum one game away from a Super Bowl gives me indigestion. Saints win.
Brandon Reid: Minnesota Vikings. I’m not sure it matters who plays quarterback with this elite defense. And the weapons they have on offense can score enough points to beat most teams in the NFL.
Orlando Torres: Minnesota Vikings. On paper this is the best game of the weekend and it should live up to the hype. This is a classic offense vs defense game, and I’m hoping it out can out-entertain the classic game between these two teams back in 2009 for the NFC Championship game. I will say regardless of who wins I believe the winner of this game moves on to the Super Bowl, and also defense wins championships.
