NFL Pick’em: Wild Card Picks
The NFL Playoffs are here and that means our postseason pick’em contest kicks off as well. In case you missed our picks every week during the regular season, we crowned one winner of all winners.
Now the records reset back to zero and we have a blank slate for the Wild Card Picks….who will be named postseason pick’em champion?
Wild Card Picks
Titans at Chiefs
Dan Schalk: Tennessee Titans. I have made bold statements about the Titans all season and even though #NewBreid is a fan of the team he thinks I’m a little loco. Well, Marcus Mariota is about to go loco on the Chiefs defense.
Brandon Reid: Kansas City Chiefs. I’m conflicted with this game because I don’t have confidence in either team and it will be the winner’s last win of the season. I’ll root for the Titans, but also be realistic. It’s January in Arrowhead. It’s going to be cold and loud. I predict Alex Smith to have a big day.
Orlando Torres: Kansas City Chiefs. This wildcard matchup doesn’t exactly scream excitement, however I do think the Titans could keep this game close by playing good defense and running the ball. With KC finally running the ball more of the playbook just opens up, and I don’t think Tennessee can counter all game.
Falcons at Rams
Dan Schalk: Atlanta Falcons. The NFL Playoffs are a different animal and the Rams lack the experience necessary to win this game. You might not like hearing that, but you’ll find out what I’m talking about Saturday night.
Brandon Reid: Atlanta Falcons. I’m going to ride or die with the Falcons. The pressure will be on the Rams offense to produce now that they’ve made the playoffs. This is uncharted waters for practically everyone with the organization. I’m going with the vet, and not the rook, so to speak.
Orlando Torres: LA Rams. My gut feeling is telling me to go with Atlanta. I mean if you think about it this team was literally minutes away from winning last years super bowl, and they’ve got several players with playoff experience. The Rams are still young and have no playoff experience, but this offense will go as far as Todd Gurley takes them and that my friends is a great problem to have.
Bills at Jaguars
Dan Schalk: Jacksonville Jaguars. Living in Buffalo, the excitement here is insane and deafening. That being said, this is probably the worst playoff team I have seen in my lifetime and with McCoy nowhere near 100% I expect this game to be a rout. How gratifying it will be for Doug Marrone to beat the team he said he didn’t want to coach anymore. Bills fans will say he quit, football fans will say he made a brilliant career decision.
Brandon Reid: Jacksonville Jaguars. I can’t see this miracle run for Buffalo, 17 seasons in the making, going past this weekend. Jacksonville’s defense is for real. Good enough to score on you, good enough to win them the game.
Orlando Torres: Jacksonville Jaguars. The thought of the Bills in the playoffs makes me want to barf. It’s nothing against the organization they basically got tossed in over the Chargers and Ravens over a blown play on 4th & 12. Anyways Shady isn’t 100%, and as long as Blake Bortles go back to his old ways, the Bills excitement will be over quick.
Panthers at Saints
Dan Schalk: New Orleans Saints. Probably the best matchup of the weekend, I am picking the Saints solely because I like Brees more than Newton on a personal level. Yes, I’m making these picks personal.
Brandon Reid: New Orleans Saints. I really like the way Carolina played this year. But I like what the Saints did even more. This is not the first time this year I have said this but their offense is the most dynamic in the league. Giving the Saints a home playoff game is like spotting them seven points. This will be the best game of the weekend.
Orlando Torres: New Orleans Saints. What a great game to end wildcard weekend. These two teams despise each other and the hatred for one another is carrying into the post-season. As great as the Panthers have looked at times I just don’t honestly think they can pull off the upset on this favored Saints team.
