NFL Week 8 Fantasy Studs
With the NFL’s week 8 games over, MSFT will take a look at week 8 fantasy studs, who had standout performances and put their teams in position to win their matchups, along with a pair of teammates going off in Sunday’s affair.
QB Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders
Week 8 Stats: 40-for-59, 513 Yards, 4 Touchdown, 0 Interceptions
With the Oakland Raiders now 6-2, following their latest 30-24 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 3rd year Quarterback Derek Carr delivered his best game as a pro, completing 40 of his 59 passes, for 513 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Carr was on fire all game, rising to the occasion in clutch moments, including completing the game-winning pass to Seth Roberts on a fourth-and-4 for 41 yards to defeat the Buccaneers. Carr enjoyed his breakout party to establish himself as one of the top QBs in 2016.
RB Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears
Week 8 Stats: 26 Carries, 153 yards, 1 Touchdown; 4 Receptions, 49 yards
On Monday Night Football’s matchup against the Bears and Vikings, it was Jordan Howard who stole the show and helped propel the Bears to an upset win over the now 5-2 Minnesota Vikings. After being out-snapped by Kadeem Carey, Howard looked to solidify his role as the lead-back and torched the Vikings defense, carrying the ball 26 times for 153 yards and a score, as well as catching 4 passes for 49 yards
RB Theo Riddick, Detroit Lions
Week 8 Stats: 11 Carries, 56 yards; 8 Receptions, 77 yards, 1 Touchdown
After being sidelined for the Lions’ previous 2 games with an ankle injury, Riddick returned to action without missing a beat. Riddick did what he does best as a dual-threat back carrying the ball 11 times, for 56 yards, along with 8 receptions for 77 yards and a score in the Lions’ 13-20 loss to the Houston Texans. With Riddick healthy, he looks to remain the Lions’ main back against a stingy Vikings defense.
WR Amari Cooper, Oakland Raiders
Week 8 Stats: 12 Receptions, 173 yards, 1 Touchdown
Amari Cooper bounced back from an ugly week 7 matchup against the Jaguars, where Cooper was nonexistent catching just 4 passes, for 29 yards, without reaching the end zone. But in week 8 against the Buccaneers, the Carr and Cooper tandem torched the Buccaneers defense, as Cooper caught 12 passes for 173 yards, along with a score, for his best game on the season.
