NJIT (14-5, 2-2) heads south to take on North Florida (9-11, 3-2) in an ASUN battle. Both teams are in right in the thick of the conference race as we progress through league play.

NJIT is one of just six teams in the nation with seven road wins this season (7-3), a milestone they hope to expand upon against the Ospreys. NJIT enters Monday’s game having won seven of their last 10 contests this season.

In their last outing, NJIT ended a two-game losing streak, defeating Jacksonville at home, 77-74. Senior Abdul Lewis broke his own NJIT single-game rebounds record by grabbing 21 boards in addition to 19 points and five assists. Sophomore Zach Cooks led the team in scoring with 23 points and has totaled 19 points or more in 11 of his last 15 games.

Cooks is an incredible player to watch. Listed at 5’9 155lbs, he rarely comes off the court averaging 37 minutes per game. He leads the team in scoring with 18.8 points and is known for his defense, swiping 2.6 steals per game–good for 13th in the nation.

North Florida is 6-0 at home this year and have won 9 straight in UNF Arena. The Ospreys are coming off a six-point loss to Liberty, but prior to that they had back-to-back conference wins against Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.

UNF has five players who average in double figures: Noah Horchler (15.4), Garrett Sams (12.4), J.T. Escobar (11.3), Ivan Gandia-Rosa (10.6) and Wajid Aminu (10.1).

Last year when these teams matched up in the ASUN conference tournament, Sams record his career-high 28 points in a 80-76 victory over NJIT.

The Ospreys’ strength lie in three-point shooting and rebounds.

UNF is 15th in the nation in three-point field goal attempts, ranking second in the ASUN in three-point field goals made, and tops the ASUN with 38.7 rebounds per game.
