Going into the All-Star break, the Atlanta Hawks hold the fourth spot in a very tough Eastern Conference with a 31-24 record. They have struggled a lot this season. Several games they have lost due to last-minute mistakes and missed free throws that came back to haunt them. However, they still have a winning record and a lot of basketball left.

The Hawks had an amazing season last year with a 60-22 record, an undefeated January, and first place in the East which led them to the Conference Finals. They went into this season with big expectations, but have underwhelmed to-date. The Hawks lost a great defender in Demarre Carroll this off-season, which put Kent Bazemore in the starting line up and the other new members of the team (Hardaway Jr./Splitter) have yet to familiarize themselves with the Hawks style of basketball. It’s almost impossible not to compare this year’s Atlanta Hawks with the record-setting squad from a year ago. If they stick with what they do best and play team basketball, limit the amount of turnovers, and continue to make stops, the Hawks will be just fine.

The Atlanta Hawks fan base and fans of basketball in general must understand that these are not the Hawks from last year, but who knows, after the break they may have an undefeated March or April. Trust in Coach Bud.
