This morning, the New England Patriots and running back Steven Jackson agreed to a one year deal. The team lost running back LeGarrette Blount two weeks ago and are already without running back Dion Lewis, both are out with season ending injuries. Jackson has not played this season, but last year with Atlanta, Jackson had 707 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns, with 3.7 yards per attempt. The Patriots are more of a passing team, so they will probably not rely on Jackson to be more than a complimentary piece to their offense. However, the Patriots are great at changing their game plans to best attack their opponents, so if they need to run the ball more often, they will have a reliable veteran running back to go to. Jackson has had a great career with three Pro Bowl appearances and over 11,000 rushing yards, but has only been to the postseason once and with the Patriots already securing a first round bye, he will have a chance to win super bowl ring with the defending champions.
