Earlier this afternoon, the New England Patriots and wide receiver Reggie Wayne agreed to a one year deal. Wayne, who previously spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts had over 60 catches for almost 800 yards last season while playing in all but two games.

The signing of Wayne will only add to the rivalry between the Patriots and Colts that started back when Peyton Manning was the quarterback for Indianapolis. The week 6 matchup between the Patriots and Colts already had huge storylines with deflate gate and Brady’s first game back, if his suspension holds up. Now with one of the greatest Colts of all-time returning for the first time during that week, that game will only get more attention.

The Patriots have several injuries at the position so the signing of Wayne does make sense in order to add depth. Wayne might not be what he was in the prime of his career, but he is still a reliable receiver who should help New England as they try to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
