Paul George, to the LA Laker…. Wait!
Surprise!! If you were sleeping last night, you missed out on all free agency frenzy that has just begun! So much for PG13 just walking into the Lakers in the summer of 2018. Paul George announced late Saturday night, at a house party in OKC, hosted by Russell Westbrook, in front of a roaring crowd, that he was “here to stay” and that the Thunder had “unfinished business”.
George agreed to a four-year, $137 million max contract to stay with the Oklahoma City Thunder, ouch. I’m sure those billboards that were all over LA, will be burned down. What makes this announcement even more shocking is that, Paul George didn’t even take any team meetings, and the Thunder were well aware that George was going to stay with the team.
Rumors have been swirling around for quite some time that George would end up in LA no mater what, and it seemed that a super team featuring Kawhi Leonard, Lebron James, and Paul George, was on the rise, but now Magic Johnson, and the Lakers have to regroup quickly as free agency is only beginning to heat up. To dig the knife deeper into the belly of the Lakers, Paul George said that OKC actually made him feel like he was wanted, while the Lakers didn’t even try, and just assumed he was going to walk to them.
