pavel datsyukYesterday I wrote an article¬†talking about Pavel Datsyuk and how he hasn’t made up his mind. His agent told the media that Datsyuk would make his decision between June 6-16. Rumors the past few days were that Datsyuk signed a two-year deal with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL. His agent came out and denied those rumors, saying the rumors were inaccurate and Datsyuk hasn’t talked to any teams. Well, reports today coming from sportsnet.ca says according to multiple sources that the Red Wings legend has been offered the contract and is thinking about taking it.

The KHL chairman of the board of directors Gennady Timchenko told a reporter that Datsyuk will join SKA, but his agent has yet to confirm this. Datsyuk and his agent told Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press that Datsyuk and his family were going on a two week vacation and then after he would meet with Ken Holland and discuss his future with the organization and the NHL.

Will Datsyuk return?

Don’t get your hopes up Red Wings fans, Datsyuk is pretty much gone. While this isn’t official and he hasn’t made his decision, all signs point to him leaving the team. All of the players on the team last season gave him a signed jersey, and even captain Henrik Zetterberg thinks he is gone. Now the rumors that his agent flat out denied seem like they were somewhat a lie. While Datsyuk has signed a contract with SKA, the rumors said he signed a two-year deal and now reports are coming out that he is getting offered a two-year deal by the same exact team and that he is thinking about taking it. Along with that, a chairman from the KHL said Datsyuk will be on the team, so maybe Datsyuk has told the team he will agree to the deal, but hasn’t signed it since he and his family are on vacation. There is no leaks or any type of news that shows he will come back to Detroit for his final year. Datsyuk is on his way out and while it isn’t official yet, Red Wings fans will have to accept the fact that he is gone and wait and see who will be the next alternate captain.
