Strengths:

  • Good size
  • Can play press coverage
  • Long arms
  • Outstanding ball skills
  • Decent speed
  • Sound tackler

Analysis: PJ Williams is a solid cornerback prospect with great size.  His long arms allow him to re-route receivers off course as he excels in bump and run coverage.  His ball skills are top notch, as he displays great timing while making a play on the ball.  Williams is not afraid to go make a tackle, and he carries some pop with his pads.

Need to improve:

  • Physical- especially past 5 yards
  • Zone coverage issues
  • Played down to lesser competition
  • Effort issues

Analysis: One draft scout summed up PJ Williams in one sentence, “He can be the best cover corner in the draft with consistent effort, something that’s not always there.” Williams played very well when the Seminoles had a biggame, but when a light weight was up on the schedule his effort was definitely lacking.  Williams is very confident in man coverage, but had his issues when asked to defend in zone.

Round prediction: 1-2
