Let’s continue up the table! Be sure to check out the pre-season predictions here.

17. Swansea City

Pre-season prediction: 15th

Current position: 17th

Despite the prediction being accurate to this point, this is why there’s 38 games played. Swansea are very prone to variable play, resulting in a very inconsistent streak of wins. With sporadic play being their theme so far this year, don’t look to see Swansea hold higher position, as flirtation with the relegation zone will be their fight at the end of the season. But given their ability to survive, Swansea will live to fight another season, barely.

16. West Bromich Albion

Pre-season prediction: 13th

Current position: 15th

For West Brom, it’s about the team’s performance currently. Despite sitting in 15th, the team is a consistent liability going into the mid-stretch of a season. The names on the roster don’t always determine the season outcome, but the current roster hasn’t truly changed. Finishing 10th last season was a miracle, and it came with help from the teams below making their charge to get out of relegation. The transfer could see clubs higher up pick players from West Brom who suit to add to their depth. West Brom aren’t the only team to pick off of, but there’s just too much downside to a team that’s in the table position they’re in.

Premier League

15. West Ham United

Pre-season prediction: 12th

Current position: 16th

Slaven Bilic is slated for a sack. His direction of the team just isn’t working. 16th will be a big disappointment for a team that picked up Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic. A formation change to a 4-3-3 would be a great option to get those two players plus Manuel Lanzini up front in the attacking three to help West Ham’s goal scoring. If Bilic continues on this course should he keep his job through the end of the season, West Ham won’t be finishing as high as some would hope.

14. Stoke City

Pre-season prediction: 11th

Current position: 14th

Certainly not a great place for Stoke City to be in. They could possibly be flirting with the relegation zone if their form can’t get to a higher peak. Stoke haven’t been able to capitalize on the season. With a bad goal deficit to go along with the total of 11 points, there is a need for urgency. Stoke are just that team to recognize this. This is a squad that can produce results and they can manage a decent finish in the league.

13. Leicester City

Pre-season prediction: 10th

Current position: 11th

Leicester City are searching for their third manager in eight months. Craig Shakespeare was sacked after only four months into the job as a full-time coach. This was the manager that righted the ship after the player fallout with Claudio Ranieri. With him gone, Leicester are in a state of flux but have the squad to maintain close to their current position. It’s reported that recently sacked Everton manager Ronald Koeman has interest in the job.

12. Burnley

Pre-season prediction: 18th

Current Position: 7th

Burnley are a huge surprise this year. Losing Michael Keane wasn’t as big a blow as expected. Despite the great start, it’s hard to see this team maintaining a top 10 position, but there’s absolutely no doubt they’re here to stay for another Premier League season. This team has some allure to players looking to try to get glory with a small club. Burnley will drop out of the top 10 eventually, but for now they should be respected among even the top Premier League teams.

11. Brighton & Hove Albion

Pre-season prediction: 19th

Current position: 12th

What a surprise from this promoted team. It just didn’t look like this team had the room to be this good. With bad play from Everton and Bournemouth it makes this team better and gives them the much deserved spot. Where they currently sit is most likely where they’ll finish based on their performance this season.

Stay tuned as we get into the Top 10 and go through teams 10-6!
