Premier League Week 2 Review
Here are some recap highlights of the second week of Premier League football:
Pogba debuts but Ibrahimovic shines for Manchester United: In what was a thrilling moment for player and fans, Paul Pogba returned to Old Trafford for his first game reunited with Manchester United. Expectations were high for the 23 year old midfielder and from the outgoing, it was obviously Pogba had nerves. His first touch was dreadful, leading to an unsuccessful yet well attempted counter attack by Southampton. Further along however, Pogba proved he was getting in a comfort zone. He made some attacks, leading to great chances at the net, but his finishing was less than stellar. Still, it was a glimpse into a hopefully high net total of goals to come. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the man of the match with the brace from a penalty and a opening header in the first half. The 2-0 victory will be a great momentum to ride on as United take on Hull City on Saturday.
Burnley stun Liverpool 2-0: There’s plenty of blame to go around for this result. From the outgoing, Burnley bagged a goal within two minutes of the opening whistle. The decisive goal came in the 37th minute. For Liverpool, they had the most possession throughout the game but Burnley made the difference with their three chances at goal. Klopp couldn’t get his team going, even with striker Daniel Sturridge back in the lineup. Liverpool did bounce back with a 5-0 League cup win over Burton Albion, so the team is expected to ride that wave into their next fixture against Tottenham.
Teams still undefeated: Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Hull City.
