Randy Gregory- DE/OLB-Nebraska
Size: 6’6 240lbs

2013 stats65 tackles 9.5 sacks16 TFL1 INT
2014 stats50 tackles7.0 sacks12 TFL1 INT

Strengths:

  • Tall- long arms
  • Good strength
  • Versatile- hand in ground/ stand-up
  • Tough and aggressive

Analysis: Gregory is a physically dominating presence.  Standing at 6’6 his frame is made of pure muscle and his extremely long arms allow him to create leverage and separation from lineman.  Versatile, Gregory played all over Nebraska’s defense ranging from inside at tackle, to end, and at stand-up outside linebacker.  While Gregory is still raw and learning his position, his skill set sets him apart from most prospects and he should be ableto come in and rush the passer immediately at the next level.

Need to improve:

  • Balance
  • Thinks too much- fails to use instincts
  • Technique lacking
  • Lacks explosion up field- “dances” with lineman

Analysis: Gregory can become a feared defensive player in the NFL, but he will need to become a more instinctive player.  Too often, Gregory will look into the backfield looking for the ball and stay engaged with his man, as opposed to bursting up field and reacting to what he sees.  Randy will need to add leg strength to increase his balance, offensive lineman knocked him off balance by a simple but powerful jab.  With coaching and experience Gregory could be dominant.

Round prediction: Top 5
