Corey Brewer has re-signed with the Houston Rockets for just under $7 million over the next three years. Patrick Beverly follows suit with a four-year $23 million deal, three years and $18 million guaranteed. ¬†Brewer believes the Rockets are in a great position to capture a title and wants to pick up where they left off. The Rockets made it to the Western Conference Finals, losing to the eventual Champion Warriors. Despite having two starters, Beverly and Montiejunas, injured throughout the playoffs the Rockets out performed many pundit’s expectations, with Brewer being a huge contributor off the bench. These are two proven players and the Rockets already know what they are getting out of them.

Brewer is a 3-and-D player, he is more adept at running the break and slashing but he keeps defenses honest with his shooting ability. A greyhound would have a hard time catching the 6’9″ small forward when he’s running down the court. Brewer has a career high of 51 points, with 16 of his 19 field goals coming in the paint, a testament to his ability to get inside.

Patrick Beverly brings defense, defense, and some three-point shooting to the table. Beverly is scared of no one and will be the thorn in any players side with his pesky defense. While defenses don’t be keying in on Beverly he will hit the open jumper at a consistent rate. Beverly is the yin to James Harden’s yang helping to shore up the defensive load.

The Rockets hope to keep most of their roster intact but remain on the hunt for that missing piece to send them over the edge.
