Ronnie Stanley NFL Draft Profile
Ronnie Stanley- Offensive Tackle- Notre Dame
Size: 6’5 304lbs
- Great size and length
- Quick hands
- Full effort on every play
- Quick footwork
- Flexible and athletic
Analysis: Ronnie Stanley could have been a first round pick last season, but chose to stay for his Senior season at South Bend in hopes of winning a championship. While he did not win any hardware, the extra year did not hurt his draft stock as Stanley is expected to be the second tackle drafted in this year’s draft. His long arms allow him to keep defenders away from his body, and his quick hands deliver a solid punch, knocking most defenders off their line. Even when he gets beat on the outside, his has the athletic ability to reset, and the quickness to reach those attackers on the edge.
- Needs to sustain blocks
- Lacks ideal core and upper-body strength
Analysis: While Stanley’s size in a plus, he lacks the ideal strength you look for in a left tackle. If he is matched up against a strong defender who knows how to use leverage, look out, that is when Stanley hangs on for a ride. Ronnie Stanley will win at the next level with technique and solid footwork. He gives ground to bull rushers when his feet aren’t set at punch, showing his balance is average. This three-year starter is mature enough to identify his weaknesses and put the work in necessary to improve his game.
