The Oakland Raiders made a solid free agent signing, that flew under the radar on most media outlets. Former Redskin, Roy Helu Jr. signed a two-year contract with the club, worth a little north of $4 million. This is a great signing for Oakland, who can team Roy up with semi-breakout star Latavius Murray to form a formidable backfield in the AFC West.

Helu excels in the passing game out of the backfield, catching over 120 passes during his four-year tenure in Washington. He will provide Raiders quarterback David Carr with a reliable security blanket, similar to Shane Vereen when he was with New England. This signing will not receive a lot of fan-fare, but it is these depth signings that will push a team into playoff contention.
